No doubt, Internet Marketeering is a tough Job

I know, I know. I should take much more time to update this bloig here but I beg for your understanding. Our other projects just take too much time for the moment being so that I am only able to update this place here on Sundays.

We are still pretty busy running mystockbet.com. We have just finished the first week of operaitons and I can say, that we are successful so far. We had no crash, no major hickups and no failures of any kind :) On the other hand, we have not really been put to the test until now, as we have only three people being subscribed to our system ;)

Besides that, we take our lessons in internet marketing. I received the first payment from google, so I am confident now, that this source of income works. I was a bit hesitant until now to extend operations there as I first wanted to know whether they pay or whether they play the funny story with me as they did with several other people (like shutting down their account days before payment was due). But with all fairness, Google has been very good to me so far :)

TOS prohobit that I go into the details, but we are profitable on a low scale. ROI is allright though, so that we now have to extend the volume in order to stack up our nominal income figures.

The first step towards this was to switch the content network on. I know, many of you might say that this was not a wise thing to do, but I like to test it ;) Now, our adcopies will show up on these adsense sites as well and hopefully generate some traffic and profit. If this turns out to be unprofitabke we will switch it off by the end of this week. Until now however, all I can see is a 100% increase in traffic and profit and this is on a Sunday!
The second part is affiliate marketing in general. We are browsing Azoogle for any offers that would fit into our network of sites to generate income from those sites that have high traffic but convert badly into adsense income. Our idea is to offer something with a higher / better ePC like sign-ups for games, prizes etc.

So, you see we are busy and next week will be no less demanding than that so see you again next Sunday ;)

Cyberworkspace.com - Reloaded.

posted by SR in January 21st, 2007
in Uncategorized

Wow, we really achieved something this week. myStockBet.com is live, no major hickups occured and it seems like we have started a smooth starting operation.

As this is sucking up most of my available spare time, I hope that you have an understanding for me, that updates here have been made a bit less often than expected. Besides that, I will take a bit of effort today into renovating this site as well as there are some items that I really need to change.

It has really been a new experience to actually bring a site live, which is not expected to have any flaws. Sure something like a personal blog is allowed to have the one or other malfunction here and there but that would not be ok for launching something that deals with financial markets and hence trust.

So, a lot of effort was spent on testing and adjusting the functionality although I must say that especially this part was difficult at first. Imagine running a site with guys who want to get something going on the web, but do not really know how to utilize the web. I mean, especially HR was doing a great job, but even he takes his first step into an unknown land as he is yet to dicsover what the business models of the web are and what especially the community (and hence web 2.0) story is about.

This is fascinating to see and is once more a proof to me, how doomed huge corporations are, once their inherent inefficiency causes them to virtually implode, as they have established a model of 20/80. What I mean by that is, that you only need to know as much as 20% about a given topic to be better than 80% of your peers in a big corporation. If you know 25%, that will make you an expert. But the rude awakening comes, once you are to check yourself against the market.

Especially in the technology and internet business sector you will find, that the current models shift towards tightly networked specialists that are engaged as freelancers or small companies but achieveing huge streams of revenue and income.

Now, what I predict is, that given that another wave of cost reduction will lead to the release of large numbers of highly paid but at best mediocre skilled IT-staff which will helplessly swim around in the market as longterm unemployed. When I take a look at whom we, at my corporation, call a well-performing individual, I get the shivers. People are easily earning 5-6k € a month for claiming to be a project managers when they are just paper clippers.

But, what I really was to say is, that the Internet is more than any other medium rewarding if you have the guts and the energy to deal with it. It enables the smallest idea to evolve and become into something bigger, if you are just willing to learn a little bit and work hard to learn a bit more.

Learn and prosper ;)

Viral marketing must bring in the trafficflood

posted by SR in January 16th, 2007

Hey you. Would you please tell your friends, that you found a great site? My site?Basically, that is what viral marketing is about. Somehow. But is it that simple? I guess the motivation to promote any site is primarily dependent from one determining factor: what is in for you, if you do it?

Those benefits can be of very different nature. You could just feel superior by having found a great site that none of your friends knows about. You could really be convinced about the value the site provides so you want your friends to benefit from it too. But you also be incentivized to promote the site by getting offered a benefit for doing so. Like a referral-bonus once a referred friend signs-up.

The latter is what we will do on our site too. We will offer a sign-up bonus (1.000 StockDollars, which is our virtual currency) that is given to the referrer once a referred person signs up to mystockbet.com. Ups. I did it. I revealed the site :)

Well. Maybe that is the start of the virus spreading around the globe and carrying the message about the birth of our site. A $100 Dollar Amazon.com gift certificate awaits the January Stockbet winner as well as many other prizes for the daily and weekly winners.

More later, I am just interested, whether this message reaches anyone at all :)
